What is unique about the ALGA?
The Australasian Land & Groundwater Association Inc. (ALGA Inc) has a broad base of members including land owners, property
developers, industry, consultants, scientists, contractors, regulatory agency
staff, government, the legal profession,
laboratory staff, financiers, researchers
and academics. The core focus of this association is to support advances in the
prevention, assessment and remediation of contaminated land and groundwater.
How can YOU be involved?
The ALGA is only successful due to the enthusiasm of its volunteers. They take time from their schedules to help out in the many different roles ALGA offers.
You can of course just be an individual member OR you could also take an active role with the benefits being: a higher profile in the industry, closer links with key industry personnel and greater exposure for the organisation you represent.
The formal committee roles, as per our rules are listed below. These positions are filled at our AGM's where nominations have been recieved prior.
• Treasurer, and
• Ordinary Board Members (must be an odd number - limited to 11).
The nominated ordinary board members are then requested to fill one or more of the positions listed below.
• State Representative
(Qld; NSW-Sydney; NSW-Newcastle; NSW-Wollongong; ACT; Vic: SA; WA; Tas and NZ-Auckland)
• EcoForum Organising Commitee
If one of these roles sounds interesting, please click it to download the role's description - this will help you in deciding whether that role is for you or not. There are many other informal ways to support the Association, such as contibutions to our monthly Newsletter ("The Reactor" is a great way to get something off your chest!), as well as offering to chair or present at one of our State Forums, start an interesting debate on our LinkedIn Group or just provide constructive feedback to help us keep improving.
The success of any Association is reflected in the commitment of its volunteers. To date, The Australasian Land & Groundwater Association Inc (ALGA) has an outstanding record (we now have over 500 Members and our reputation is highly regarded) but we need to maintain and grow on our exisiting achievements. Can you help us to do that in 2012?
Additional to these, we have the opportunity for organisations (currently law offices) to offer their venues to host our state forums, we call you a state honorary sponsor. Below is a link that outlines what we ask from you and the benefits get!
Please feel free to contact our Secretariat for further information.
